Monday weather forecast: Skies are back at work, we are not

High pressure takes charge while our motivation remains officially on holiday until after Epiphany.

Newsroom

Good morning, and yes, it is Monday. However, please note that our motivation remains on extended leave until after January 6th (Epiphany Day tomorrow). Until then, productivity will be scattered, much like our attention span. A ceremonial Mediterranean cold plunge is expected to jolt us back into reality. Side effects may include screaming and sudden respect for thermal socks.

Today’s situation:
A very responsible high-pressure system has shown up to work on time, unlike our motivation. Expect mostly clear skies, with some high clouds drifting in this afternoon, probably also still on vacation. Winds will wander in from the northeast to southeast at a casual 3-4 Beaufort, occasionally showing off at 4-5 Beaufort just to remind us it can. The sea will be slightly rough, and in some spots, decidedly grumpy.

Temperatures:

  • Inland: a polite 17°C
  • Southern & eastern coasts: a tempting 19°C
  • Other coasts: a downright misleading 20°C (looks warm, still cold when you swim)
  • Mountains: 11°C, perfect for people who enjoy feeling betrayed by weather

Tonight:
High clouds increase, clearly planning something. Winds shift from northwest to northeast, with a brief coastal cameo at 4 Beaufort. The sea calms down to calm to slightly rough, though the eastern coasts remain emotionally unsettled and rough.

Looking ahead (Tuesday to Thursday):
Mostly clear skies continue, with occasional high clouds floating by like “out of office” replies. Temperatures will gradually rise, climbing above average climatic values, just in time for us to reluctantly remember responsibilities exist.

Final advisory:
Enjoy the sunshine and brace yourself: that cold Mediterranean dip is coming, and so is reality.
