A motorcycle lost control and collided head-on with a jeep in the Karpasia region on Sunday morning, killing the 41-year-old motorcyclist instantly and injuring three Greek Cypriots traveling in the vehicle.
The Greek Cypriots, who were in a jeep with Greek Cypriot license plates, were taken to the general hospital in occupied Famagusta for treatment. They have since been released, as confirmed by the bicommunal Technical Committee on Crime and Criminality, and returned safely to areas under the control of the Republic of Cyprus. Authorities determined they were not at fault for the accident.
Turkish Cypriot media reported that the motorcyclist lost control on a bend, causing a violent collision. Photos from the scene show extensive damage to the jeep’s right front and the large-displacement motorcycle.
The crash highlights the hazards of Karpasia’s winding roads, where high-speed accidents can have fatal consequences.
