Motorcycle racing mishap leaves man fighting for life

Man in critical condition after high-speed crash

A 39-year-old man is being treated at the Neurosurgery Department of the Nicosia General Hospital after sustaining critical injuries during motorcycle racing on Sunday, according to a police statement.

Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, stated that the man underwent spinal fusion, adding that his condition continues to be described as critical by attending physicians.

According to Nicolaou, the motorcycle races took place on a track in the Makounta area of Paphos, and the accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. on Sunday when, under circumstances under investigation, a 55-year-old motorcycle racer fell from his bike, causing his motorcycle to collide with another racing motorcycle driven by the 39-year-old.

The 39-year-old was injured in the accident and was transported by ambulance to Polis Chrysochous Hospital and subsequently to the Nicosia General Hospital.

His health condition is deemed critical.

The Polis Chrysochous Police Station continues its investigations.
