Legal Service concludes no criminal responsibility, halting further investigation

Health Minister Michalis Damianou confirmed that a tender is currently underway for the rental or construction of new pharmaceutical warehouses, with OKYPY planning to transfer its medicines to its own facilities by September.

In response to a report on the 2024 flooding of the Ministry of Health’s pharmaceutical warehouses, Damianou stated that no personal responsibility had been found. While acknowledging organizational failures, such as the delayed relocation of medicines and lack of insurance coverage, he emphasized that no criminal or disciplinary responsibility had been identified. The investigation, conducted by an independent official after the legal service declined to pursue further inquiries, did not find fault with any individuals.

The Minister also noted efforts to repair the warehouse, including a professional roof replacement to prevent future damage, and confirmed that OKYPY's medicines would be relocated soon. He stressed the importance of OKYPY operating autonomously with dedicated facilities, underscoring the need for specialized warehouses to support health services effectively.
