Northwest Cyprus to be rebranded 'Paphos Riviera' amid fresh tourism designs

The deputy tourism ministry has set its eyes on the Polis Chrysochous and Tylliria areas which it said have been 'deprived of tourism development'

The Cyprus deputy tourism ministry is eyeing the western extremities of the Paphos region that is expected to be rebranded as the ‘Paphos Riviera’, announcing a new tender for the creation of a tourist development strategy and for the establishment of a tourist identity for the wider areas of Polis Chrysochous and Tylliria.

The tender, of a value of 70 thousand euros, will be accepting proposals until July 10.

“The area has been deprived of tourism development and promotion over the past decades, but it is an area that the national tourism strategy is focused on developing,” the deputy tourism minister Savvas Perdios said.

The deputy ministry’s aim is to concentrate all small communities under a single ‘brand name’ umbrella, attracting foreign tourism markets. The rebranding of the area is also set to attract larger tourist flows to the Akamas area, creating foundations for new development projects there.

The Paphos Riviera area is expected to encompass the Polis Chrysochous, Kathikas, Ineia, Kritou Terra, Latsi, and Tylliria communities.

In addition to the new tender, Perdios told Kathimerini Cyprus that the decision has also been taken to release a budget of 200 thousand euros for the tourism development of the Polis Chrysochous and Tylliria areas in 2021.
