The coronavirus pandemic in the Republic of Cyprus wasn’t looking to steady down on Friday, when 94 cases were detected after 3,084 tests were conducted.

With the health ministry’s contact tracing team overwhelmed by the large number of cases being detected over the past few days, especially given that each case carries with it several numbers of contacts that need to be looked into, the health ministry didn’t have information on the new cases yet.

Friday’s 94 new cases raised the total to 2,379.

As expected, hospitals were treating increasing numbers of patients with coronavirus on Friday. The Famagusta general hospital was treating 10 coronavirus patients, while two more are intubated at the Nicosia general hospital ICU.

On Saturday morning, the meeting of the government’s health advisory committee will be chaired by President Nicos Anastasiades.
