A 31-year-old man from Nicosia district was killed Thursday morning when the motorized paraglider he was flying crashed near Kiti, authorities said.
Police identified the victim as Antonis Kourras, of Anagyia.
According to the Larnaca Police Department, the accident happened around 8:30 a.m. in the coastal area of Parasolia, Kiti, where two men were flying separately on motorized paragliders.
“Under circumstances under investigation, one of the pilots, while flying at low altitude over the sea, lost control of his paramotor and crashed onto a rock near the beach,” police said in a statement.
An ambulance was called to the scene and confirmed Kourras was dead. He was later taken to Larnaca General Hospital, where doctors also certified his death.
