The police authorities are investigating a highly serious case of child abuse in the Larnaca district.

According to reports, a case involving the abuse of five siblings was recently reported to the Family Violence Unit of the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department (CID), with the alleged perpetrators being their parents. The couple—a 48-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman—were arrested and brought before the court.

The relevant welfare services have been informed and have taken responsibility for the children until the investigation is completed.

The police are handling the case with great caution due to the involvement of minors.

The court has referred the case for trial before the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca. The two suspects face charges related to child trafficking, labor exploitation of both adults and minors, sexual abuse, and domestic violence.

The trial has been scheduled for May 5, and until then, the court has ordered that both detainees remain in custody.
