Police arrested 19 people during an operation in Nicosia targeting third-country nationals staying illegally in the Republic of Cyprus.
The operation was carried out by officers from the Aliens and Immigration Service (AIS), including personnel from its headquarters and units in Nicosia and Larnaca, with support from the Green Line Surveillance Sub-Directorate. All 19 individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of unlawful residence in the Republic.
Authorities said six of those arrested have already returned to their countries of origin, while arrangements are continuing for the repatriation of the remaining individuals.
The latest operation forms part of an ongoing campaign by Cyprus Police to identify and remove people who do not have legal permission to remain in the country. Police said they are working with the Deputy Ministry of Migration to increase the number of returns of third-country nationals residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus.
