Police were put on high alert on Tuesday (23/04) afternoon after a person was shot at in Lakatamia.
The incident occurred around noon, injuring a person who was promptly taken to the hospital. However, details regarding the victim's health condition remain undisclosed.
Preliminary reports suggest that the victim is known to authorities, and both he and the shooter, who discharged the shots, were riding motorcycles.
As a result of the attempted shooting, a portion of the Anthoupolis - Paleochori road has been closed.
According to police information, part of the Anthoupolis - Paleochori road, in the area of Anthoupolis - Lakatamia, was closed around 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Specifically, the closed section extends from the Anthoupolis roundabout, under the Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia highway, up to the junction of the Anthoupolis-Palaichori road with Agios Georgios Avenue, in Anthoupolis, Lakatamia.
For travel from urban areas of Nicosia to Paleochori and vice versa from Paleochori to Nicosia, the public is requested to use the roundabout of Strovolos Avenue to Archbishop Makarios III Avenue, in Lakatamia, then follow Agios Georgios Avenue, up to its junction with the Anthoupolis-Paleochori road, which remains open to traffic.
Passing drivers are urged to be particularly careful and follow the instructions of the police members present in the area to provide assistance and regulate traffic.
