Over 700,000 voters registered for upcoming elections

Chief Returning Officer releases voter statistics ahead of polls

The Chief Returning Officer, Elikkos Elia, revealed on Tuesday that a total of 706,534 individuals are eligible to cast their votes in the upcoming elections.

According to a press statement issued by Elia, the permanent electoral roll, which grants voting rights for all elections, consists of 568,608 Cypriot voters, with 837 among them being Turkish Cypriots who hold Republic of Cyprus identity cards with addresses in the free areas.

The voter distribution across districts stands at 220,736 in Nicosia, including 143 Turkish Cypriots; 33,879 in Famagusta, with 8 Turkish Cypriots; 99,342 in Larnaca, including 249 Turkish Cypriots; 159,680 in Limassol, with 238 Turkish Cypriots; and 54,971 in Pafos, with 199 Turkish Cypriots.

Additionally, a special electoral list for European citizens participating in Local Government Authorities Elections includes 21,640 voters. District-wise breakdowns show 4,048 voters in Nicosia, 2,669 in Famagusta, 2,525 in Larnaca, 3,123 in Limassol, and 9,275 in Pafos.

For elections of Members of the European Parliament, there are 13,017 voters on the special electoral list of European citizens, while 103,269 Turkish Cypriots, holding Republic of Cyprus identity cards and residing in areas beyond government control, are listed separately.

The Office of the Chief Returning Officer also disclosed that 4,725 voters have registered to vote in the European Parliament elections at designated polling stations located abroad in cities such as Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, and others, including London and Brussels.
