Police have been on high alert in Limassol since early Wednesday morning, after a woman refused to leave her home during a court-ordered eviction.
Authorities say the resident locked herself inside the house and reportedly told her son that she intended to harm herself. At one point, she even threatened to cause an explosion using gas cylinders, prompting a swift police response.
Specialized negotiators are in constant contact with the woman, working to defuse the situation. Firefighters are also on site as a precaution. The woman has since handed over the LPG cylinders to authorities, but she remains inside the house and continues to make threats of self-harm.
Police have cordoned off the surrounding area to keep neighbors and passersby safe. Officials say the operation is ongoing, and negotiations are continuing to reach a safe resolution.
