Poor weather throughout the weekend

Showers on and off all weekend, mountains dressed in white following hailstorm

Newsroom

Poor weather conditions are affecting Cyprus throughout the weekend, but not without brief moments of sunshine, while parts of Troodos Mountains are dressed in white following heavy hailstorm.

Road conditions in higher elevations are expected to be affected by poor weekend weather, while drivers in the area are urged to equip their vehicles with anti-skit wheel chains.

Similar weather is expected to last through Sunday and Monday but also with periods of fair skies before the weekend is out

Saturday rainfall will include local showers and isolated thunderstorms, while hail is expected in areas with heavy rain. In the evening, rain showers will dominate the skies in the east and southeastern regions.

Maximum temperatures will be 20° Celsius both inland and in the coastal regions, while it will reach 9 degrees up in the highest elevations. Winds will range from weak to moderate, while they will be strong at times over coastal areas, with the sea ranging from relatively calm to choppy waters.

Similar weather is expected to last through Sunday and Monday but also with periods of fair skies before the weekend is out, while Monday evening will be mostly cloudy with low chances of rain over local areas and possibly thunderstorms along the coast after midnight.

On Tuesday, morning showers are not ruled out as there will be increasing clouds in the sky, however it will be mostly clear as the day goes forward.
