Clashes between immigrant groups in the Pournara Immigrant Center in Kokkinotrimithia in the last 2 days have resulted in the hospitalization of a 17-year-old boy at the Nicosia General Hospital and 35 people injured.
According to reports, on Tuesday night (8/2) two groups of immigrants began throwing stones at each other amidst a quarrel due to the theft of money and personal belongings. Three people were injured in the incident.
The next day, on the morning of Wednesday (9/2), immigrants from Nigeria and the Congo began fighting over a game of basketball. Police immediately rushed to maintain order, but not before more immigrants were injured.
"The Police intervene where and when needed in the framework of their duties for security and order issues", said the Deputy Spokesperson of the Police, Marina Christodoulidou.
This morning, authorities issued a red alert, requesting assistance from the public for the whereabouts of a 15-year-old wanted for the attempted murder of the 17-year-old in hospital.
Police are looking for FARAH HASSAN FARAH, 15 years old from Somalia. Anyone who has information that can help locate him is asked to contact the TAE Nicosia at 22-802222 or the nearest Police Station, or the Citizen Contact Line at 1460.
