The Public Service Commission has announced the appointment of four individuals to fill vacant positions as General Directors across various government ministries. The appointments, approved by the Council of Ministers, will take effect on December 1, 2025.

According to the Commission, the appointments come as part of the ongoing process to fill permanent senior positions in the civil service. A related notice was previously published in the Official Gazette of the Republic on January 17, 2025.

The new General Directors include:

Category A

  • Anna Aristotelous, former Director of the Central Prisons
  • Georgios Papageorgiou, General Director of the Nicosia Municipal Theatre
  • Kyriakos Iordanou, General Director of the Administrative Council of the Association of Certified Accountants of Cyprus (ACCA Cyprus)

Category B

  • Penelope Papavassiliou, Deputy General Director of the Ministry of Finance

These appointments reflect a blend of experience across public administration, the arts, financial oversight, and professional associations. Anna Aristotelous brings leadership experience from the correctional system, Georgios Papageorgiou from cultural management, and Kyriakos Iordanou from financial governance. Pinelopi Papavasileiou has served in a senior finance role within the Ministry of Finance, positioning her to step into the broader responsibilities of a General Director.

The Public Service Commission noted that the selections were made following standard evaluation procedures to ensure that each candidate met the qualifications and experience required for the senior leadership roles.
