Hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has been arrested in New York City after being indicted by a federal grand jury, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
The exact charges against Combs, 54, remain unclear as the indictment has been sealed. U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, confirmed that Combs is currently in federal custody.
“We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time,” Williams said in a brief statement released late Tuesday.
Combs, a rapper, producer, and entrepreneur with a long career in the music industry, was taken into custody in the lobby of a Manhattan hotel, according to an anonymous source familiar with the arrest. The source was not authorized to speak publicly and disclosed the details under the condition of anonymity.
