A section of the metal roof at a department store in Paphos collapsed on Monday, injuring three people, authorities said.

The incident occurred at around 1 p.m. at the Superhome Center, located in Neon Mall. The exact cause of the collapse remains unclear, and investigations are underway.

The three individuals who were hurt sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital. Their condition is not life-threatening, officials said.

Police and inspectors from the Labour Inspection Department were dispatched to the scene to assess the damage and conduct a thorough investigation.

In a statement, Superhome Center expressed its regret over the incident, noting that safety procedures were activated immediately after the collapse. The company has temporarily closed the store and is working with authorities to investigate the cause and carry out repairs.

"We deeply regret the unfortunate incident at our new store in Neon Mall of Paphos, where part of the suspended ceiling unexpectedly collapsed, causing minor injuries to three persons," the company said in its statement. "We have suspended operations and are taking all necessary steps to ensure the store is safe before reopening."

Superhome Center apologized to its customers for any inconvenience, stressing that safety remains its top priority.

Authorities are expected to release more details once the investigation progresses.
