A fire broke out in a historic building in the center of Paphos on Tuesday evening, causing significant damage to a well-known restaurant located near the Paphos Town Hall.
The fire started at around 6:06 p.m. and spread rapidly through the building, which also houses the Eusebian Club. Firefighters from the Paphos Fire Station quickly responded, deploying five fire engines, including a hydraulic rotary engine, to contain the blaze.
According to a statement from the Fire Service, the upper floor of the restaurant was completely destroyed, but crews managed to protect the ground floor, which sustained only minor damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and nearby buildings were also safeguarded by the fire teams.
Firefighters remained on the scene to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. The cause of the blaze will be investigated on Wednesday in coordination with the police.
The building is considered a landmark in Paphos, adding to the impact of the damage caused. Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
