An email sent to broadcasters in Ireland and Bulgaria claimed responsibility for this week’s threats against European flights. The claim remains unverified.

Sky News said Friday it had received a security threat and notified authorities, hours after a bomb threat forced Ireland’s public broadcaster RTÉ to evacuate its Dublin campus and switch to prerecorded programs.

Sky said it carried out a security assessment and was working with authorities to protect staff and keep its operations secure. The British broadcaster did not specify what kind of threat it had received.

In Dublin, the threat interrupted RTÉ’s morning radio programming as staff left its Donnybrook campus and police searched the premises. Staff at Newstalk, Today FM and the Irish Independent’s publisher were also reported evacuated. Irish police said they were investigating threats made against media organizations in Ireland and elsewhere in Europe.

Reuters reported that an email sent to RTÉ and Bulgaria’s Nova TV claimed responsibility for the bomb threats that have disrupted flights across Europe this week. Reuters could not establish who sent the message or whether the sender was behind any of the aviation alerts.

The aviation threats continued Friday. A Wizz Air flight from Prague to Rome diverted to Venice, where passengers were taken off the plane and police carried out checks. A flight from Prague to Larnaca was also targeted, prompting Hungary to scramble fighter jets to monitor it as it crossed Hungarian airspace. No explosives were reported found in the aviation searches.
