Yellow warning issued overnight as rainstorm expected to hit south and parts inland

A weather alert went into effect Thursday night after midnight due to showers and thunderstorms affecting mainly the southern coast.

The Meteorology Department issued a yellow warning effective Friday 1am through 12 noon, citing showers and thunderstorms mainly along the southern coast that could reach up to 50 millimeters in a 6-hour period.

Thursday night showers and thunderstorms were expected to continue overnight and could intensify in the early morning hours, according to weather officials, mainly on the southern coast as well as parts of the interior.

Friday morning conditions were expected to start improving gradually later in the day, while showers were still expected in the late afternoon, most likely in the evening, as well as throughout the weekend.
