Newsroom

The Meteorology Department issued a yellow warning for strong storms yesterday, effective until 7:00 PM today.

According to the Meteorology Department, isolated strong storms are expected to affect the island intermittently. Hail is expected during storms, while winds may vary and strengthen.

Rain intensity is expected to range between 35 and 55 millimeters per hour.

A low-pressure system is influencing the region's weather.

Today, the weather will be intermittently cloudy with local showers and isolated storms. Hail is possible during storms, and snow or sleet may fall on the higher peaks of Troodos. Winds will blow mainly from the northeast to southeast, weak to moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and the sea will generally be slight to moderate. Temperatures will reach around 16 degrees Celsius inland, around 18 degrees along the coast, and around 8 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

Tonight, the weather is expected to gradually become mainly clear, although locally increased cloudiness may bring isolated showers, mainly along the coast. During the early morning hours, fog or mist may form in inland areas and in the east. Winds will blow from the northwest to northeast, weak, at 3 Beaufort. The sea will gradually become calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 5 degrees Celsius inland, around 9 degrees along the coast, and around 2 degrees in the higher mountainous areas, where locally frost may form.

On Saturday, the weather will be intermittently cloudy with local showers and isolated storms. Increased cloudiness on Sunday is expected to bring isolated showers or even storms, mainly in the afternoon. On Monday, the weather will be partly cloudy with isolated showers. Snow or sleet may fall on the higher peaks of Troodos.

Temperatures will experience a slight rise on Saturday and remain relatively stable until Monday, hovering slightly above average climatological values.
