Spectacular water flow transforms forest picnic area into natural attraction.

The Department of Forests has announced that Xyliatos Dam overflowed on Monday following recent rainfall, creating a striking natural display that has already begun attracting visitors to the area.

According to officials, the overflow is passing through the nearby picnic site, which is managed by the Department of Forests. The phenomenon, described as an “impressive natural spectacle,” highlights both the power of nature and the scenic beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Authorities noted that the recent rains have had a positive environmental impact, significantly boosting water reserves and supporting forest ecosystems. The increased water levels are expected to strengthen vegetation and contribute to the long-term health of the area’s natural environment.

Despite the visual appeal, officials are urging caution. Visitors are advised to remain vigilant while in the area, particularly due to the increased water flow and potentially slippery conditions.

The Department of Forests also reminded the public of their responsibility to protect the environment. Visitors are encouraged to respect nature, keep the area clean, safeguard local flora and fauna, and follow all posted signs and safety instructions.

Officials emphasized that preserving Cyprus’s forests is a shared responsibility, calling on the public to act responsibly while enjoying the rare natural event.
