Authorities in the occupied north intercepted a vehicle carrying nearly two tonnes of meat and detained the driver as part of an investigation into the shipment.
According to reports, officers from a crime prevention unit stopped and searched the vehicle in the occupied village of Mia Milia. During the inspection, they found 1,889 kilograms of meat that is believed to have been purchased in the government-controlled areas before being transported across to the occupied north without authorization.
The meat was confiscated and an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the transport of the cargo. Officials are examining how the shipment crossed into the occupied areas and whether any regulations were violated.
The driver was taken into custody while inquiries continue.
