A 25-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday in Limassol on multiple charges including illegal drug possession, possession with intent to supply, money laundering, and traffic offenses, police said.
The arrest followed a high-speed chase that began shortly after midnight when police officers found a suspiciously parked car in Limassol. As officers approached the vehicle, the driver sped away, committing several traffic violations in an attempt to escape.
During the chase, the driver abandoned the moving car and fled on foot. The car continued moving and eventually collided with a parked vehicle, where it was immobilized. Police apprehended the suspect nearby.
A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 3.5 grams of cannabis and about 11 grams of cocaine divided into 18 smaller packages. The suspect tested positive for narcotics and was also found to be driving without a valid driver’s license or a safety certificate.
The case is being investigated by the Limassol Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and the Limassol Traffic Police.
