A dramatic vehicle chase involving gunfire unfolded in Limassol in the early hours of Sunday.

Police officers on patrol spotted a car traveling slowly with its lights off on Keramopoiou Street. The vehicle’s behavior raised suspicions, prompting officers to signal the driver to stop.

The driver ignored the commands, accelerated, and attempted to flee, initiating a pursuit shortly after 2 a.m. During the chase, the vehicle, carrying three occupants, ran a red light.

At one point, the car reached a dead-end and stopped. Officers from the Organized Crime Unit (OPE) approached, but the driver drove toward them, creating a risk of injury.

One officer fired twice at the car’s left tire, but the driver managed to escape.

The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) and the Traffic Department are investigating the incident.
