The leader of the Turkish Cypriot community in the occupied areas, Ersin Tatar, met with Maronite Archbishop Selim Sfeir, where he acknowledged the Maronite community’s role in contributing to the region’s cultural and religious diversity.
According to a statement issued by his office, Tatar stated that different faiths and cultural traditions are protected under the laws of the entity in the occupied areas.
He also emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and maintaining friendly relations between the Turkish Cypriot population and the Maronites.
Archbishop Sfeir expressed his appreciation for efforts to improve these relations and thanked Tatar for his engagement with the Maronite community. He also welcomed initiatives aimed at fostering understanding and cooperation.
