Teen arrested after disturbances at Larnaca elderly home

Police investigate alleged indecent assault; Social welfare relocates minors

Police in Larnaca have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with recent disturbances at a home for elderly people, authorities said Thursday. The teenager is accused of causing property damage at the facility and will appear before the Larnaca District Court later today to face charges.

The arrest follows reports by Kathimerini on Wednesday about growing concerns over incidents at the home.

In a related matter, police have opened an investigation into an alleged indecent assault involving a woman at the home. While no formal complaint has been filed, authorities are acting on information suggesting a minor may have been involved in the incident.

The Social Welfare Services responded to the situation, confirming that plans were already in place to relocate unaccompanied minors from the shelter. "The relocation is already underway and is expected to be completed within days," the agency said in a statement.

The investigation remains ongoing.
