The Cyprus Basketball Federation and ECOMMBX held a joint press conference today (November 18) to mark their partnership and celebrate ECOMMBX as the "6th Player" of the Men’s National Basketball Team in its journey to EuroBasket 2025. The event coincided with the EuroBasket trophy tour and came just days ahead of Cyprus' highly anticipated match against France on Thursday, November 21, at 7:00 PM at Eleftheria Stadium.
The President of the Cyprus Basketball Federation (KOK), Andreas Mouzourides, opened the event, welcoming attendees with enthusiasm. "We are starting the countdown to the biggest sporting event ever hosted in Cyprus. All eyes will be on our small but proud island," he said. Mouzourides expressed gratitude to Michalis Kakiouzis, captain of the 2005 Greek national team that lifted the EuroBasket trophy, for his presence at the event. He also thanked ECOMMBX for their ongoing support and urged fans to rally behind the national team during their match against France.
Kalli Hatziosif, Vice President of the Cyprus Sports Organisation, highlighted the country's pride in hosting EuroBasket 2025 and commended the rapid preparations to deliver an exceptional event. She described ECOMMBX as "the spirit of sport in Cyprus" and emphasized the importance of corporate sponsorships in the success of both the event and the national team.
Neoklis Theocharides, Head of the Sports Department at ECOMMBX, expressed the company's heartfelt excitement and pride in supporting the Men’s National Team. "It is a great honor for Cyprus to host the EuroBasket trophy," he said, adding that the event symbolizes a vision for the future of Cypriot basketball and lays the foundation for even greater achievements.
Michalis Kakiouzis, the last to speak, shared his gratitude for being part of this landmark moment in Cypriot basketball. Reflecting on his career, he spoke of the deep emotions tied to lifting the EuroBasket trophy in 2005 and encouraged Cyprus to embrace the tremendous opportunity this event represents.
The conference was a celebration of unity, ambition, and support as Cyprus continues its preparations to host EuroBasket 2025, an event set to showcase the nation’s passion for basketball on a global stage.
