The Petal Drift adorns the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre

Markos K. Christodoulou uses digital art to create visual works that offer moments of peace and spiritual relief

Press Release

The Wall Gallery continues its work with dedication on the exterior of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre. Its aim is to improve the living conditions of patients, but also to showcase the work of contemporary artists working in Cyprus. The establishment of The Wall Gallery transforms a treatment centre into a permanent art space. It raises awareness of cancer while offering messages of optimism to patients. The works exhibited at The Wall Gallery meet the standards set by the study for a therapeutic environment prepared by the non-profit organisation ABR - Alternative Brains Rule, with the generous and ongoing support of the Bank of Cyprus.

Through his work, Markos K. Christodoulou draws inspiration from the organic forms of nature and the vastness of the scientific world, creating a visual journey of spiritual tranquility. His three compositions, full of delicacy and harmony, serve as an invitation to stop for a moment, breathe and rediscover the peace that so often eludes us. Using technology and digital art, Markos transforms the image into a space of acceptance and tranquillity.

Markos K. Christodoulou is an acclaimed artist of Cypriot origin with a long-standing commitment to interdisciplinary art. Living with a serious neuro-immunological condition, he reflects in his works the need for balance and calm amidst life's challenges. His work has been exhibited internationally and he remains renowned for the way in which he fuses science, technology and visual art into a unified, emotionally charged effect.

The Wall Gallery is a local initiative that highlights the role of culture in health, demonstrating the impact of art on physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. It enhances therapeutic environments, transforming them into warm and supportive spaces that promote recovery, while encouraging social inclusion and connection between patients, families and the society. Finally, it embraces a holistic approach to health, focusing on overall quality of life beyond the treatment of illness.

To date, The Wall Gallery has presented exhibitions by renowned photographers Silvio Augusto Rusmigo and Eugene Kitsios, as well as artworks by Konstantinos Hadjidimitris, Alexia Tryfon, Simoni Filippou and Milenko Stevanovic.
