The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) is pressing ahead with the nationwide rollout of smart electricity meters this May, aiming to help households and other consumers monitor and reduce their power use.
According to an announcement by the EAC, installation teams will continue work in all regions of Cyprus throughout the month, adding to the areas listed in a previous release dated April 17.
The targeted areas for May include:
Nicosia:
From Stassinou Avenue to the Green Line, stretching from the Orpheus Stadium to the Paphos Gate inside the walled city.
Limassol:
In the Germasogeia and Mouttagiakka areas, north of the Limassol–Nicosia highway, from the Agios Athanasios Industrial Area to Agios Tychonas.
Larnaca:
The Vergina area, Zenon Settlement, and Kamares Settlement II.
Also south of Dr. Vasos Lyssaridis Avenue in the Ipsos ton Kamaros neighborhood.
Paralimni:
On both sides of Kapparis Avenue, from the Agia Triada roundabout to Giorki Papadopoulou Street.
Also along Archbishop Makarios III Street, north of the old Paralimni Stadium.
Paphos:
A large section bordered by Kato Pervolia Avenue, Apostolos Pavlos, Gladstonos, Nikodimos Mylonas, Evagoras Pallikaridis, Thermopylae, Fellachoglou, and Aphrodite Streets.
The EAC says each smart meter installation may require a temporary power outage, but this should last no more than 20 minutes. The Authority has apologized in advance for any inconvenience.
