May 19, 2025, Hilton Hotel, Nicosia

Press Release

This year’s Sustainable Development Conference is dedicated to supporting and strengthening Cyprus’ national strategy for a Green Transition. The ultimate goal is for the country to become a model of environmental awareness and sustainable growth, contributing meaningfully to a greener, more eco-friendly future.

Contributing to this collective effort, the following speakers will take part in the conference: Christianna Diogenous, Georgios Kazantzis, and Joseph Antoniou.

Christianna Diogenous will deliver a keynote speech titled “Volkswagen Group: The Road to Electrification” and will also join the panel discussion “Electrification: How to Remove the Bumps.”

Ms. Diogenous holds a B.Sc. in Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and an MBA from INSEAD. She began her career at PwC in the UK and later held leadership roles in human resources, marketing, and public relations at the P.M. Tseriotis Group in Cyprus. At Unicars, she advanced from marketing manager to marketing director before being appointed general manager at Tseriotis Consumer Goods and Diapo. There, she played a key role in major business developments such as the founding of Unilever Tseriotis Cyprus and the merger that created Tryfon Tseriotis. She is currently the CEO of Unicars and actively serves on several boards and industry bodies, including as vice president of the Cyprus Car Importers and Electric Vehicles Association and the Cyprus-German Business Association. She is also an honorary member of the CIM.

Georgios Kazantzis will speak in the panel discussion titled “Every Drop Counts. Twice.”

Mr. Kazantzis has been Deputy Director of the Cyprus Water Development Department (WDD) since June 2024. Under his leadership, the department promotes sustainable development, protection, and responsible management of water resources, in line with national and EU legislation and the government's water policy. He brings extensive international experience in the water sector, having worked from 2008 to 2024 as a senior consultant and project manager on multinational water supply and sewage projects across Europe and Asia. These projects had a combined budget of over €4 billion and the potential to positively impact the lives of around 70 million people in 15 countries. Earlier in his career, from 1999 to 2008, he played a significant role in the planning of national water infrastructure in Greece. Mr. Kazantzis holds two master’s degrees—one in civil engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and another in environmental engineering from Imperial College London. He has also conducted research in river hydrology at Pierre et Marie Curie University—Paris VI and on leak detection methodologies.

Joseph Antoniou will take part in the panel discussion “Green Transition, Funding and Risk Management.”

Born in 1984, Mr. Antoniou is a graduate of the English School in Nicosia. He earned a B.Sc. in Economics from University College London (UCL) in 2006 and is a qualified chartered accountant. He also holds an Executive MBA from the University of Cambridge, with several academic distinctions. Early in his career, he worked in London with top international banking institutions. After completing his accountancy training at Ernst & Young, he joined the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in 2010, where he held strategic and risk management roles, contributing to the restructuring of the bank’s balance sheet and regulatory compliance. In 2014, he moved to HSBC as a senior portfolio manager, overseeing risk mitigation strategies in commercial banking across Europe. He returned to Cyprus in 2017 and joined Hellenic Bank as Director of Business Risk Management and Corporate Governance. Since 2020, he has served as the bank’s chief risk officer.
