When he went to the police to find a mobile phone he lost while burglarizing a convenience store, a 27-year-old thief in Thessaloniki fell into a trap he unintentionally set for himself, which led to his arrest.

According to Thestival, everything began on Tuesday morning in the Kalamaria area. The 27-year-old and his accomplice broke a convenience store window and stole the cash register drawer and two cartons of cigarettes.

Unfortunately for them, the shop owner's son noticed them and followed them on foot. In an attempt to flee, the 27-year-old thief threw the stolen goods. However, he inadvertently threw away his cell phone on the street.

The phone was then turned over to the Kalamaria Police Department as evidence of the crime.

A short time later, the 27-year-old thief returned to the same Department, claiming to be looking for his misplaced cell phone. According to the findings of the Kalamaria Security Department's investigation, it was one of the two perpetrators of the theft. He was promptly apprehended.

While the investigation to find and identify his accomplice continues, the arrested person will be taken to the competent prosecutor.
