Three people have been arrested in connection with an investigation into alleged plans to carry out paid killings in Cyprus, following information shared through Europol.

The arrests were made during a coordinated police operation in the Larnaca and Famagusta districts involving the Cyprus Police and a team from the Danish Police.

According to police, the investigation began after European authorities provided information concerning alleged plans for murders to be carried out in Cyprus in exchange for payment. Officers assessed the information and evidence before obtaining court warrants and launching the operation.

The three suspects are expected to appear before a court on Saturday, where police will seek detention orders as the investigation continues.

The case is being handled by a Special Investigation Team at Cyprus Police Headquarters, working alongside the relevant European law enforcement authorities.

Cyprus Police said the operation demonstrates the importance of rapid action and cooperation between law enforcement agencies in dealing with serious organised crime.

Authorities also stressed their continued cooperation with Europol and other European law enforcement bodies as investigations into organised criminal activity continue.
