Yesterday's forecast proved to be a modest underestimation. Today takes the crown for the absolute peak of this stretch. The seasonal low pressure is delivering one final, intense push, driving temperatures up across every single district before the weekend cold-front transition begins.
If you are based inland, expect the mercury to touch an impressive 44°C. Even the coastal areas are feeling the extra lift today. The eastern, southeastern, and northern shorelines climb to 37°C, while the southwestern and western coasts reach 35°C. If you were hoping to escape the heat up in Troodos, even the higher mountains are sitting at a elevated 33°C.
The day starts quietly with light onshore breezes at 3 Beaufort. As the afternoon progresses, winds will shift out of the southwest and northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, picking up momentum to a firm 4 to 5 Beaufort along the coast. The sea will stay calm to slight for the most part, building to a slight chop on windward shores by late afternoon.
Skies will remain mostly clear into the night. As we head toward the early hours of Friday, humidity will rise, bringing localized patches of mist, fog, and low cloud cover to southern and eastern districts.
Winds will ease back into light downslope (katabatic) breezes at 3 Beaufort, while the water settles into a calm to slight state, with just a touch of texture remaining along western beaches.
