A tornado swept through parts of the Nicosia district Tuesday, startling residents and leaving dramatic scenes captured on video.
Footage circulating on social media showed the funnel cloud forming near Agioi Trimithias and Anthoupoli, whipping debris into the air as storm clouds churned overhead. Some residents report seeing the tornado as far as central Nicosia. No injuries or major damage were immediately reported.
The rare weather event unfolded as Cyprus continued to experience turbulent conditions, with heavy rain drenching the Troodos Mountains earlier in the day.
