Tourist dies in motorcycle accident in Paphos

Man succumbs to critical injuries, female passenger on life support following weekend road accident

A male tourist in Paphos was killed in an accident over the weekend when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle, while his female passenger ended up being hospitalized in the capital on life support.

According to police, 37-year-old French national Karim Mezdari succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning following a road accident a day earlier in Paphos.

The incident took place Saturday morning around 10:15am in Chloraka when Mezdari’s motorcycle collided with a car driven by a 38-year-old woman described as a citizen of a European country.

Police did not immediately provide details about the circumstances of the incident but an official report said it took place on Chlorakas Avenue, with both Mezdari and a 30-year-old female riding on the back of the motorcycle sustaining critical injuries.

The two riders were rushed to the Emergency Room at Paphos General Hospital, where Mezdari succumbed to his injuries the following morning around 8am.

His female passenger was transported to Nicosia General where she went on life support due the severity of her injuries.

Police said the car driver was treated for minor injuries and then released from the hospital.

Paphos traffic police are investigating the incident.
