A 20-year-old man died early Tuesday after a two-car collision on Larnakos Avenue in the Aglantzia area of Nicosia, police said.
The crash happened around 1:20 a.m. as Kyriakos Antoniou, of Agios Dometios, was driving toward Nicosia from the University roundabout. Under circumstances still under investigation, his car collided with another vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man with a 23-year-old passenger.
Antoniou’s car veered off the road and struck a traffic light pole, police said. He was taken by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were also taken to the hospital, treated for minor injuries and released.
Nicosia Traffic Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
