A tram crash in central Oslo on Tuesday morning injured four people, including the driver. The incident occurred when the blue tram, carrying around 20 passengers, derailed and collided with a computer shop on Storgata, one of the city’s main streets.
Images from the scene showed significant damage, with the front of the tram embedded in the store. First responders quickly evacuated the four-story building and cordoned off the area for safety checks regarding structural damage.
Demolition worker Thomas Larsen, who witnessed the crash, described a close call, saying he barely avoided being hit by the tram as it derailed in front of him while he was riding an electric scooter. He expressed his shock at the incident, emphasizing how frightening it is for such an event to occur in the heart of the city. Authorities are currently assessing the damage and the full impact of the crash.
