The Health Ministry announced two new coronavirus cases on Thursday, both involving contacts of other known cases.

The new cases emerged after 2,602 samples were checked for the virus.

By 3pm on Thursday, four coronavirus patients were being treated at the Famagusta General Hospital, one of which was being treated in the ICU. Across Cyprus, three coronavirus patients are intubated, with their condition described as critical but stable.

Health advisory committee member Leondios Kostrikis said infection sources are at levels that allow the Cyprus government to move forward with the relaxation of restriction measures.

“We reiterate the need to remain careful,” Kostrikis said.
