Newsroom

The police were called after a shooting incident at a bank branch in Limassol.

According to reports, Bank of Cyprus employees in the Kapsalos area arrived at the branch around 7:00 AM on Monday, September 11th, for work and noticed that the front glass was damaged.

Law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene, secured the area, and discovered that several shots had been fired at the branch.

According to Lefteris Kyriakou, the head of Limassol's Criminal Investigation Department, the shots were fired from a gun.

"Early in the morning, an unknown person used a gun to shoot at the branch," Kyriakou said. He added, "Based on the CCTV footage we've reviewed so far, a vehicle passed in front of the branch and fired the shots."

"We will analyze the CCTV footage further to gather more information," the Limassol CID officer mentioned. He also stated, "Although we are aware that many shots were fired, we will determine the exact number once the ballistics service completes its examinations."

The shots caused damage to both the glass display and the interior of the branch.
