We are desperately eyeing the weekend like it's the last piece of cake at a summer picnic, and not even the prospect of becoming human toast is going to ruin it for us. Yes, it's going to be a scorcher, but frankly, we’re too ready to care. Weekend, we are emotionally available. Please arrive promptly.
Now, for the not-so-chill facts:
Temperatures hit 37°C today (and that's just the warm-up act).
The Meteorological Service reports that a typical seasonal low-pressure system is lounging over the area like it owns the place.
Today (Thursday):
Expect mostly clear skies, with a few puffy clouds popping up in the mountains this afternoon, just to keep things visually interesting. Winds are doing their usual musical chairs, starting from the northeast to southeast at a gentle 3–4 Beaufort (moderate gusts up to 5 in the east), then doing a casual afternoon pivot to the southwest and northwest.
Wind mood: Lightly dramatic.
Sea vibes: Slightly annoyed.
Temperature mood:
- 37°c inland (aka the frying pan)
- 34°c south & east coast (mild roast)
- 33°c west & north coast (grill mode)
- 28°c in the mountains (practically winter!)
Tonight:
Clear skies continue. Winds calm down a bit and flirt between northwest and northeast at 3–4 Beaufort. Sea stays slightly rough, because it can. Temperatures chill to about 24°C inland and coastal, and a cool 17°C in the mountains if you're chasing a breeze and a reason to wear sleeves.
Friday & the weekend:
Skies remain mostly clear. Friday sees a tiny temperature dip (blink and you'll miss it), but the weekend is turning up the heat again. Expect temperatures to rise beyond seasonal norms. Translation: The sun is bringing its A-game.
So get your iced drinks ready, prep the pool floats, and charge your fans. We’re going into the weekend hot (literally and metaphorically).
