Low pressure and an unstable air mass are continuing to affect Cyprus, bringing the possibility of isolated showers and thunderstorms before conditions are expected to gradually improve from Sunday.
The morning will be mainly clear across most areas, although increased cloud cover may bring isolated showers along the coast. During the early afternoon, isolated showers or a brief thunderstorm are expected in the mountains, inland areas and along the northern coast.
Winds will be light and variable in the morning, at around 3 Beaufort, before gradually shifting to mainly southwesterly to westerly directions. They will remain light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, reaching 5 Beaufort along the southeastern coast during the afternoon.
The sea will be slightly rough along the western and northern coasts and, during the afternoon, along the southeastern coast. Elsewhere, conditions will remain calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures will reach around 26°C inland and along the coast, while the highest mountain areas will be cooler, at approximately 16°C.
The evening will remain mainly clear across most areas. However, developing clouds along the coast may bring isolated showers.
Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to west, remaining light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort along exposed coastal areas. The sea will be slightly rough along windward coasts and calm to slightly rough elsewhere.
Tomorrow, Saturday, the weather will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers expected during the afternoon. Localised showers may also develop at night, particularly across the western half of the island.
A welcome improvement is expected from Sunday, with mainly clear skies forecast for both Sunday and Monday. Periods of increased cloud cover may occur at times, but overall conditions are expected to be more settled.
No significant change in temperatures is expected over the coming days. Readings will remain slightly below the average climatic values, particularly inland and in the mountains.
Enjoy the brighter spells, but keep an umbrella nearby if you are heading into the mountains, inland areas or the northern coast this afternoon. Conditions are expected to become more settled as the weekend progresses.
