Wednesday brings a 35°C inland top as summer rain makes its final stand

Midday clouds will trigger one last round of isolated showers and thunderstorms across the mountains and central plains before the unstable air mass retreats.

Soak up those stormy mountain views while you can, because today is the official finale of this rainy plot twist before the classic Mediterranean summer heat takes back control. It really has been a sight to behold! Seeing actual rain clouds and hearing thunder in the middle of August feels like winning the summer lottery on this island, even if it was just a quick deluge for some mountain villages and central spots.

Wednesday starts off sunny and pleasant across the island, but the lingering unstable air mass has one last act left. Around midday and into the afternoon, clouds will build up over the Troodos peaks and central inland areas, delivering a final wave of scattered rain showers and localized thunder.

Here is how today's thermal spread breaks down:

Inland plains: Reaches a very manageable 35°C before afternoon cloud cover rolls in.
West and southwest coasts: Earning top honors for coastal cool at 31°C.
Remaining coastlines: Resting right around 32°C.
Higher Troodos Mountains: Sitting at a fresh 25°C (keep an eye out for final afternoon storm clouds).

Morning winds start light and variable up to 3 Beaufort before shifting southwesterly to northwesterly at a gentle to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will remain slightly rough overall.

Conditions clear out across most of the island overnight, though localized patches of cloud will linger over the western half.

Winds will blow westerly to northwesterly at light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort, with waters remaining slightly rough on windward western and northern shores while easing elsewhere.

Thursday: The unstable air mass recedes completely. Expect clear, sunny skies everywhere with temperatures beginning their upward climb.

Friday and Saturday: Uninterrupted summer sunshine returns for the weekend. Highs will jump noticeably, settling right back above seasonal climatic averages.
