A 39-year-old Russian woman remains in intensive care at Limassol General Hospital after she was discovered running naked through a street in Limassol on Thursday afternoon. Medical tests later detected fentanyl and other opioids in her system, according to police.

According to Philenews, officers from the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department were called to General Timaya Street at around 4pm after receiving reports of a distressed woman running naked in public. Police restrained her because of her condition, and she fell to the ground during the intervention.

Soon afterward, she reportedly began suffering convulsions and was foaming at the mouth. Officers also detected a strong smell of alcohol. Paramedics transported her to Limassol General Hospital, where she was admitted to the intensive care unit, placed on a ventilator, and sedated. Police said her condition is currently stable.

Toxicology examinations confirmed the presence of fentanyl and other opioid substances. Investigators believe she had also consumed alcohol together with preparations containing fentanyl-related opioids. Doctors found she had sustained fractures to the ribs on her right side.

Police are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
