The well-known potato landmark in Xylofagou has been restored and returned to its original spot after being damaged by severe weather.
The structure had been knocked over during strong winds that hit the area over the weekend of March 14–15, making repairs necessary. Following this incident, its creator reinforced the installation by building a more durable and secure base. The restoration work cost approximately €2,000.
As of the morning of April 7, the landmark has been reinstalled and once again stands firmly in place. It has also been decorated with seasonal Easter ornaments, adding a festive touch to its reappearance.
According to Giorgos Ioulianos, president of the Xylofagou Community Council, the upgraded base is designed to better withstand future weather conditions. The structure itself is made of fiberglass.
