Clear skies are expected across most of the island, with isolated mountain showers possible and temperatures remaining above seasonal averages.
A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting Cyprus, with inland areas expected to bear the brunt of the heat over the coming days.
Temperatures are forecast to reach 39C inland on Sunday, while the south and east coasts are expected to reach around 35C. The west and north coasts will see highs of about 32C, with temperatures reaching approximately 29C in the higher mountains.
The Meteorological Service has issued a yellow high-temperature awareness notice, with the maximum temperature expected to reach around 40C in some inland areas between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday.
The warning advises that high temperatures may pose health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups including older people and young children.
Saturday afternoon will be mostly clear, although cloud development over the mountains could bring isolated rain. Winds will generally blow from the southwest to northwest at light to moderate speeds, with locally stronger conditions. The sea will be slightly rough and locally rough.
Clear conditions are expected overnight, with occasional low cloud in some areas. Mist or fog could develop in the early morning, particularly inland and in the southeast. Overnight temperatures will fall to around 24C inland and along the coast, and 21C in the higher mountains.
Sunday will remain mainly clear, with winds gradually becoming locally moderate to strong. The sea will generally be slightly rough.
The hot and mostly clear pattern is expected to continue on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Some afternoon cloud will develop over the mountains, while isolated rain cannot be ruled out in mountainous areas on Tuesday.
Temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable during the three-day outlook and stay slightly above the normal levels for this time of year.
