A three-month baby boy, who was being treated in a negative pressure room at Makarios Children’s Hospital in Nicosia, tested positive for the novel coronavirus after it emerged there was contact with a confirmed known case.

Reports said the boy had contact with his grandmother but it was not immediately clear who was the confirmed case who had contact with the baby.

Another two-year-old child was also suspected to have contracted the virus. Officials said the baby boy was transported to Makarios by his mother, who came from a British Base on the island.

Test results were still pending on Thursday morning for the two-year-old, while the three-month-old baby was said to be in good health and remained hospitalized for precautionary reasons.
