A young girl died Saturday following a marine accident in Limassol during an outing on a yacht, with reports saying she was a passenger on a Jet Ski driven by her dad when tragedy struck.

According to local media, a 6-year-old Ukrainian girl was a passenger on a Jet Ski on Saturday late afternoon when an accident took place off the coast at Lady’s Mile beach.
The incident took place in the water just before 6pm, with initial reports saying two Jet Skis collided while it was also reported that the girl fell off and was then hit by a second high-speed vessel.
Additional reports said a Ukrainian couple with their young children had been guests on a yacht, where they borrowed two Jet Skis for a ride, with the girl joining her dad while the second watercraft was driven by the mother.
British Base police in the area said the girl was seriously injured in the incident.
An inflatable boat from the yacht brought the girl to shore and into an awaiting ambulance, which rushed the child to the Emergency Room at Limassol General Hospital.
A statement later said the girl succumbed to her injuries just before 8pm.
SBA police, which has jurisdiction over the area, said the circumstances of the incident were still under investigation, while a post mortem was scheduled to take place over the weekend.
