The Statistical Service announced the preliminary fiscal results for 2018, which have been audited and verified within the Excessive Deficit Procedure framework of the European Commission.
The results for 2018 indicate a fiscal deficit of €989,6 million, which corresponds to 4,8% of GDP, and a fiscal debt of €21.258,1 million, which corresponds to 102,5% of the Cyprus GDP.
These results include one-off expenditure valued at €1.725,1 million that concern the merger of the Cyprus Central Bank with Hellenic Bank.
CYSTAT said that excluding the burden of the deal, the fiscal balance for 2018 records a surplus of €735,5 million or 3,5% of GDP.
