A new four-star hotel in Meneou has been given the go-ahead by the Environmental Authority, paving the way for a €15 million development in the Larnaca district. The proposed Parayialia Hotel will feature 196 rooms across four floors, with a total capacity of 392 beds, according to an environmental impact study.
According to Dorita Yiannakou, the hotel complex will include two reception areas, multiple dining spaces, bars, a gym, a laundry facility, and storage areas. Guests will also have access to gardens, parking spaces, and swimming pools.
However, strict environmental conditions have been placed on the project due to its proximity to the Larnaca Salt Flats, a Natura 2000 protected site. The development site sits just 30 meters from the ecologically sensitive area, which is home to a unique lake system and diverse wildlife.
To minimize environmental impact, authorities have required significant modifications to the initial plans. The basement must be scrapped, the number of floors reduced by at least two, and the total height capped at 13.5 meters. These measures aim to limit hydrological changes, human activity, and potential disturbances such as light and noise pollution.
If these conditions are met, the Parayialia Hotel is expected to move forward, bringing a new tourism investment to the area while balancing environmental concerns.
